Reproductions of past issues of the Asahi Shimbun are available in three major forms; as CD-ROMs, as microfilm, and as shukusatsuban (縮刷版, literally, “reduced-sized print editions”). Shukusatsuban is a technology popularized by Asahi Shimbun in the 1930s as a way to compress and archive newspapers by reducing the size of the print to fit multiple pages of a daily newspaper onto one page. Shukusatsuban are geared towards libraries and archives, and are usually organized and released by month.

Yomiuri vendors read the newsprints aloud to sell them. Just think of a newspaper vendor who hawks papers shouts “Read all about it, read all about. Kerry tromps Bush by a landslide. Read about it. Read all about it.” Ono 1972, Huffman 1980, and Takahashi 1992a, and Tsuchiya 1995, 2000, and 2001 all have information about Tokyo nichinichi shinbun. Okitsu 1997 includes a lot more detail on the people involved and has more vivid reconstructions of what probably transpired between them. The first issue was printed on one sheet from woodblocks. The second and subsequent early issues were printed on a press using both lead and wood moveable type.
One frequent target is the Asahi Shimbun, which to many is the liberal newspaper of record in Japan. According to the Reuters Institute Digital Report 2018, public trust in the Asahi Shimbun is the lowest among Japan’s major dailies, though confidence is declining in all the major newspapers. The launch of the paper has every appearance of being a decision by Yoshiiku and Takabatake to “newspaperize” the “illustrated news” idea that had been pioneered by the nishikie edition of Tokyo nichinichi shinbun. During the first few months after the launch of Hiragana eiri shinbun, Yoshiiku and Tentendo continued matriz de la mujer en ingles to crank out the Tonichi nishikie. The paper was aimed at readers who wanted kanji with furigana and illustrations. It carried serialized stories by popular fiction writers including Takabatake. Along with a color photograph of the scratched coral, the article lamented the decline in Japanese morals.
Kōki Hirota, who was later hanged as a Class A war criminal, was also a leading member of the Genyōsha and one of Ogata’s best friends. Hirota was the chairman of Tōyama’s funeral committee, and Ogata was the vice-chairman. Indeed, the newspaper’s liberal position led to its vandalization during the February 26 Incident of 1936, as well as repeated attacks from ultranationalists throughout this period . Kyodo News provides English-language news content related to both Japan and the world, on a wide variety of topics. The Yomiuri newspaper provides some digital content related to Japanese and world news, although this is limited without a paid subscription.
